He's gone, guys. We had to put him down, mainly because he had something like an ulcer and he was hemorrhaging blood..

I was honestly expecting him to be there when I got home, THAT is a testament to how he's become a constant in my life.

This is why I wanted to become a Vet; So that fewer people would have to go through what I've been through. Thought my teachers have told me that becoming a Vet is impossible for "Someone like me"....

During the course of my life, I've lost 4 dogs, all of them played an important part in my life.

My first dog, Gertrude, practically nursed me back to health when I was 6 and my collar bone was broken.

I just loved him so much..

I am very sorry. I have been so busy that I haven't had time to look at the whole thread. I just saw it in the forums and wanted to make sure I paid my respects to the person. I am dearly sorry. I had to put my dog and cat to sleep. My dog was really hard because it was the day before mothers day. And I had that cat for ages. But at least Kirby isn't suffering anymore.

They don't count. Only one has ever lived/stuck around long enough for me to develop any sort of emotional attachment. Misty was her name. She was a cute little bobtail, and she bore many kittens into this world. She lived through five winters.

Bully and Molly on the other hand, are eight or nine years old. We've had them since they were pugbabies.

Then there's Mikey. We inherited him from my deceased grandmother. We got him in 1995, and he was already a year or two old. I swear, that dog is immortal. He drank coca cola every day for ten years, and has been mortally wounded in fights with cats (He is a very small dog) several hundred times, only to magically heal.

We were enemies for a decade, but after my grandmother died, we slowly got past our differences.

The best friendships always start that way. Kinda like my dog. I chose the one out of the pen that bit me. They say it was a love-nip, but I knew her true intentions from the start.
