I wouldn't be expecting too much.
Most if not all of the town has been demolished over the years, with only a few homes now left standing. If there ever were emergency sirens, I doubt they still function. As for the fog? not likely, nor will there be ash raining from the sky, however you might get lucky and see a lot of steam. I would suggest bringing a gas mask, like farts, toxic fumes are silent and deadly at times.
I've been keeping an eye on Centralia over the years, and first found out that it was the basis for Silent Hill back when the movie hit theaters. It's ironic in a way...
On one hand, I hate that the town has been killed in the manner that it has been, and that soon, it'll be but a memory, save for those who go seeking information. It could have all been avoided, if the town's officials had jumped on the job sooner.
On the other hand, if they had stopped the fire, the town would have thrived, and it's not very likely that we'd have such a great survival horror series such as Silent Hill. Fate is truly a mysterious, sometimes cruel and wonderful thing.

Wow thanx birkin. It so much like silent it's freaky. the roads are split smoke in the air, all in a small town.
Thats freaky a match can be lit off the ground... i'd still love to go there at night.

Dude, I'd absolutely hate to go there at night. The mixture of past Silent Hill playing and human instinct would make me shit myself. Humans have a fear of the unknown, and with Silent Hill giving a base for your imagination to build off of, you might feel as though there are nightmarish horrors around every corner. Combine that with the fact that it's isolated and there are few people, and you've got yourself one place that I would not want to go to.

I love being scared. I've seen so many horror movies and been to so many haunted houses i'm desensitized. I'm the kinda person who hates going out for walks in the day but will walk aimlesly at night for hours. So many more interesting and dangerous things can happen at night.
If i ever got a chance to go to Centralia i'd prolly go there at Dusk to kinda see what i can before night comes around. Then i'd park the car and walk around with only a flashlight and a small knife. Proly bring a gasmask to explore the mine or at least see where the entrance was.
Like i said i love taking risks.

While I don't go seeking the thrill of danger, I feel more at ease in the dark than I do in the light. I always have. It's not uncommon to find me walking around the neighborhood at night. I especially enjoyed sitting down at the dock at night, before erosion began to claim it. Now it's too dangerous to go on any time of day, much less at night.
Being in the South, it's not uncommon during the winter and early spring to wake up to a really dense fog, and at those times I like to think that Silent Hill has dropped by for a visit. It's kind of silly but it's how I feel.
