| I'm sure as any of you know by now, me and electronics have a love/hate relationship.
This rant is one of those times in which I fucking hate my PC, and the feelings are mutual.
Saturday night I was browsing the net as usual. I decide to drop by Youtube for a bit of music, and notice that I don't hear anything. I thought that was a bit queer, because I was listening to music earlier in the day. Well I look to my sound options and noticed that my volume control button was no where to be found... So I restarted a few times, and the elusive bastard still wasn't no where to be found, so naturally I did the most logical thing. Freaked the fuck out.
I've had this problem happen to me before, and I never got my sound back, at all. Not until I a new hard drive was put in. I asked my friends and they tell me to do a partial restore to earlier in the day. So I break down and take their advice.
I reboot, hit F10, and figuring I'd be given a choice in restore points, I watch as the thing goes into full on restore mode. Ctrl + Alt + Delete did nothing, typing "Exit" did nothing. Short from unplugging the PC, I was hapless.
For an hour and a half I watched in hellish anxiety to await the damage that had been done. I feared I had lost 6 years of information in one fell swoop. When it was all said and done, I had my sound back, and thankfully none of my personal data was gone. So I went about beginning toe restoration of my pc.
I deleted all the crap programs the manufacturer had put on the pc, and that's when I began to notice how bad things really were. While removing software, I noticed that all of my security updates were missing, and went about trying to reinstall them. That didn't work. I tried for about four hours to get the damn thing to download the security updates, but it was no use. A bit of chatting with my friend, he informed me that I needed the Windows Installer, which I downloaded.
It seems I can download my security updates once more, so that's a relief. but now I have a number of programs that aren't acting right. Avast! 5 is one of them. I can't seem to install the damn thing. It keeps giving me some error. Yahoo has been giving me this error every time I log in.
"Runtime Error Program: C:\Program Files\Yahoo\YahooMessanger.exe
R6025 - pure virtual function call"
and one of my games keeps telling me my hard drive is full, yet I have 76.5gb's of free space. Aim seems to be working fine and I haven't checked WLM yet, so I'm not sure on that one. I think Imp said it best the night before. "You and technology don't get along well, huh?" Too true my friend, too fucking true.
I'll probably be out of commission for the next couple days as I frustratingly try to figure out what's going on.

| If your volume disappears, right click the right part of your toolbar and click "show system icons".
Guaranteed to work on Vista, untested on other OS.

| Me and m laptop have a love-hate relationship. It will obey me if i repect it. I must sacrifice an orphan the first suday of every month in it's name, and in return it must work for me. If i i do what it asks and it still refuses to work for me i hit it with my mighty pimp hand and make it my bitch for the day. | |

| If the icon simply vanished because it was inactive, then it should have returned on the initial reboots. It didn't though. *sigh* My computer is gradually installing more security updates from Windows, but it's still giving me a lot of grief.
My pc is unprotected atm, I've got no antivirus software installed and Avast! refuses to install properly now, and I have no idea why.
