If you didn't think I'd contest this shiz, you thought WRONG. >:3
<3 DEK, but I really disagree with a bunch of this.
Here's your arguments from last name Ever, first name Greatest.
Sorry, feeling really fuggin' cocky right now XD Those that know me know I don't really think I'm the greatest ever. Just better than DEK. XD <3 I'm an ass today - Demon Eyes Kyo wrote:

1. First things first you cant kill ALL the GLA's yu see
- Fact is once theres a GLA you have about 1 secnd before every fucking zombie on the block comes your way. Unles your one of the lucky few who managed to clear most of the street somehow without them respawning. for this case...
Not always true. It's funny, I tend to have a constant supply of aggro, UNTIL I come across a GLA. Then it gives me about 10 seconds of free reign, before they swarm en masse. With a GAU, I fucking loved this. I could usually kill him before the rest came. With a Raging Bull, I still fucking loved this. It was a HUGE benefit, and allowed me to get a very big headstart. Now, I think ANY GLA can be killed unless you get trapped in a small room with one and don't have a machine gun of some sort, with instant reload. If you're like me and have a GAU? No excuse to ever leave a GLA alive. Same if you have a K-50M with 124 Critical and instant reload.

2. Know your terrain. Streets
- street combat may be your only chance for a strictly pistol or rifle user. though its alot riskier cause theres crows and LA's can come fro all directions. Make sure you remember where the garbage cans are, cant tell you how many times i died cause of a blood covered can got in the way of my escape route.
This I half agree, half disagree. First off, it's not your only chance. I don't think it's more risker, however. Sure, crows. They take one shot to kill, you'll be firing constantly anyways, as long as you don't stand still you're perfectly fine. Crows are overrated, they aren't really all that if you're mobile.
Main point for streets is to stay mobile. Unless you have a GAU, you should be constantly moving. Even with a GAU I find myself evading things and constantly moving. Habit or necessity? Who knows. I agree with the garbage cans tip, it's only happened to me once, but ever since then I've made sure it never happened again. Following a routine route (with small variations to get new enemies trapped in your little routine) is very effective, and while the battle can take anywhere from 20 seconds to 5 minutes, as long as you don't care about time, this is usually the best way to tackle them.

3. Know your terrain. Building
- Buildings. obviously you need to see where the doors and furniture are. If theres 3+ doors i'd avoid that fight unless theres an amzing spot where you can literally stand still and fight. More doors is more danger. i tend to avoid GLA's in rooms like :=: (a hallway type.) unless once again the cover is around. the best is single door rooms or L shape ones. for this reason.
Personally, the only time I care about furniture? Small rooms. Such as, the small offices with the desks/chairs. Hiding behind those, of course that's a huge factor, and ALWAYS the right move to make. However, while furniture can make large rooms easier, it usually also makes things a lot longer to go through. Most of the time is spent either waiting/chasing. Kinda sorta very annoying.
The real factor? Room size. Hallways? Hell, keep them in one line, draw them to the bottom, sprint around them and repeat. Big rooms? just run in a big circle. Just like streets, the main thing is to stay mobile. However, this is more controlled, and a lot less routine, more improvisation. Instead of sprinting way ahead, you'll want to keep a certain distance (for me personally I stay VERY close, I can always sprint away, but I never want to have to sprint TOWARDS them). You have the advantage of knowing exactly where the zeds are coming from, however. To be honest, I prefer indoors, as zombies tend to be less "limitless" than outside. Easier to loot. Sort of. >.>
Of course, the best idea is always CLEAR THE BUILDING FIRST. Zombies will stop soon after you kill the GLA, if any of them even come at all. If they do come, it's usually 2-3, and then they stop.

4. No cover? how do you win?
- if there is no cover, RUN! Unless... you have a Thompson, K-50m, Mag, M60, Mitral, USAN with instant reload. Then if the is even a slight piece of cover such as a tight corner or only a single doorway, you can just non stop unload on them until they die with the LA
Personally, this is the point that irritated me the most. If the room has ANY sort of size to it, you can EASILY evade them, even with 25 Agility. Carefully timed sprints makes this possible, and you can be less and less careful the higher your agility is. The ONLY time I think this applies is for small rooms. In that case, this 100% applies. But in all else, as long as you're comfortable with evading, you should be fine.

5. Looting apartments.
- you ALWAYS want to start from the "top" floor and work your way down. This is why. If you clear the top floor, as you go down only zombies from lower floors and the same floor as you wil attack. Meaning if you do bump into a GLA or shit hits the fan you can always go up a floor and work you way back down. If you go down to up you got all the fresh zeds and the ones already inside making any chance of you killing a GLA slim.
Umm... wow. Just wow. I'd never ever consider this. Never ever. You're talking to someone who's always had the troubles of constant aggro, and even I have never ever ever had to do this. In most cases. The zeds will come inside, populate the first room. Then they'll spend 5 minutes partying before they go to the next room. Then 5 minutes, "Hey let's check out what THIS room is". And so on. Maybe a little over-exhaggerated, but you get my point. The one or two zeds that leak inside will NOT make a difference. However, attempting to sprint through a full aggro'd building up to the top WILL make a difference. The difference is so insignificant, it's just not worth it. You're also passing up potential loots, etc. This is just... no offense, but it's entirely retarded.
If you get the endless aggro glitch, in which basically every screen you go into spawns 8 sprinting long arms (no fatties) and as SOON as you kill one another appears, and this routine NEVER ends, then yeah, go with what DEK says. Well actually, I guess it wouldn't really matter then. Because most people would be screwed regardless.
Usually, you'll clear the bottom floor out. Or you'll work your way up to the next floor, anyways. From then on, every room should spawn maybe 1-2 longarms with one or two coming in, possibly less. If you can't handle that, you shouldn't be in Long Arm Territory. All of these descriptions from DEK, they sound great on paper. Actually use them, and you tend to find the game very difficult if it variates from anything slightly off from the paper. Much like chemistry. Sure, there's the molar ratio. The make up, the components. But you will never ever ever have a perfect ratio. You'll be working with varying amounts, and need to make up for it in certain ways. Real lab situations differ from on paper.
Also, a general GLA tip. Concentrate your hits on the GLA at all times, and just hold down the fire button. Keep your eyes everywhere else, and avoid the GLA and possy and obstacles. Of course, as mentioned before, sounds great on paper. The variant, here's your answer. Often you might have to change your firing to knock back a few pesky LA. In terms of GLA vs. Necessary-Knockback-Shots? The latter wins, hands down. But as long as you keep firing in the GLA's direction, you'll kill him eventually. Of course there's going to be the people getting in the way. Well, they'll die eventually, so don't be concerned about that.
And uh... yeah. <3 DEK XD!
