God dam Hippies

ah this was ages ago when i was collecting for the Poppie foundation which for those who don't know.

its a charity that looks after ex servicemen who have died or been injured in the line of duty.
they pay for the people who keep the military semitary nice and well kept and if someone who was injured really needs help they will help them.

so i was there selling the poppies and some girl and her mother came over and i asked them if they would like to buy a poppie. and the mother took one look and said do u have any white one's which are for a different charity deals with world peace and stuff and i replied no sorry would u still like to buy one and she replied in a really smug way "no i don't agree which them in my view they support war." and i got really offended by this since charity's like this pay to look after my great granddads grave down in Africa he was a high ranker in the merchant navy he was in command of the fleet for a time down of the coast of south Africa and they have helped out my dad and my family in the past since he got injured in the line of duty made seriously ill by some chemicals he had to work with.

and so i kinda got emotional and we had an argument and she and her daughter went.

god dam them uncaring fuckers even if u don't support ware u can support those who fight and die for it its the lest u can do for saying thanks for doing a dangerous job and to look after there grave if they die

A couple of things 1.Poppies like the flowers? 2.How do you know they were Hippies? 3.Also even if they were that's one of things Hippies are about Peace not War, Fighting the Man, Peace, Love,Unity. No I'm not a Hippie I'm a ''Punk'' but we fight some of the same issues. Oh and Fatality if you like The Sex Pistols you should know that they were anti-war anti-government we Punks can be just as bad as in your words those ''God dam Hippies''

The point is that some people, in their stupidity, think "supporting the troops" is the same thing as "supporting the war."

Regardless of whether or not someone agrees with their government's decisions, they damn well better appreciate the men and women that selflessly give of themselves on the field of battle.

The woman Wolf described is a rather mild case. Back during the Vietnam conflict, protesters would gather and throw hate (and sometimes more solid things) as the soldiers returned home. Not just at the government, or the war, mind you. Their attacks were also aimed at the soldiers themselves.

Something unnaturally dark stirs in my soul when I witness such rank ignorance.

You have no clue do you? Yeah lets support the troops but to but what end the Vietnam War to say least wasn't worth it I talked to some of soldiers of that war they agree. Hippies, Draft card burnings, Woodstock, John Lennon these things helped change the country on a more stable path. No what about the civil rights movements I could on forever, don't balame your troubles on a group of people just because they believe the same thing. Tell me do you know how many Irish,Scottish,German,Polish died in this country for this country in and after the Civil War? No because no one knows men were drafted straight off the boat many Irishman and Chinese were buried alive building tunnels children too they also died building the railroad along with black slaves. So tell me what do think keeping you alive right now cause the Old Fading Glory doesn't give a shit if you die it's happened time and time agian you my not think it but your lift is held on by a thread. American is a cesspool for liers and scumbags, and how the Hell do we have 73% of the worlds prisoners when we only have a 5% pop!?

I tried to go through your wall-of-text and post individual rebuttals, but I quickly realized that somewhere between the first and second sentences, your response lost all relevance to what I had just posted. The Falkland conflict was a matter of national pride, and it required way way waaaaaay less firepower and manpower to fix than the current conflict.

Heck, if we had come along, the island would have been crowded.

Back on topic; why do soldiers need a charity - I thought they would be (partially) taken care of by whatever government they grew up in. I hear alot of things about veterans, but well, what am I missing here?

How am I cannon fodder I fight for no man, mankind doesn't need my services and I don't need there's. You all will die in misery because you live in misery, remember that in order to see the truth the truth must see you but maybe you will reap what was sown.

while the government helps a bit its not really enough these charity help people the government wont
