| To be blunt, I'm worried. From what I've seen, we've lost more members than we've gained, and all we've gained are lab experiments. That I can see, at least.
Inactivity checks are nonexistent.
I don't like this direction... Buck, I hope you know that I'm not trying to be offensive. I just want what's best for Umbrella.

| I know you don't mean to be offensive at all. Though I don't see the outlook as bleak as you make it out to be. We have gotten several new members in the meantime and stopped taking lab experiments because of the large influx of new players. To be honest, I only see the same 8 guys around regularly, so I don't know exactly how many active players we have. I know Julie went ahead and ran an activity sweep a couple of weeks ago, but I haven't seen any info on that.
As always wesker, I value your opinion, and if you have any suggestions on improving how HB and I are running things, I will try to incorporate them. I'll start taking a more personal approach with the clan members we don't see around much. PM's and trying to get them to stop by at least the DF thread more often.

| There's a number of issues with the clan that have yet to be addressed for one reason or another. Such as activities. That was one of the largest draws we had to get new recruits coming in, but due to organization difficulties, we never really got around to making it work. Me and Jarki BOTH tried our best to get people to attend events, but we just couldn't get people to attend. Granted this is no one's fault in particular, but seriously, you can't expect people to waste valuable play time and resources waiting in the city for people to show up. This is especially true for high level players who have to spend a lot of money to keep fed.
DF in itself is a problem. It's been a long time since I've actually played, not since the map update. But there hasn't been any significant updates sense then. The 3D demo is all well and good, but it's a demo of a demo... DF is in-complete, plain and simple. It's missing content that may very well be vital to keep players interested, and as it stands, there just isn't enough to keep someone entertained for long. While we're at it, there is a fine line between entertainment and occupational obligation and if there is one thing I've learned is that you don't play DF, you work for DF, and if you have to force some one to play. then it isn't entertainment. DF boasts that it's an MMO but it isn't it's a Single Player game with MMO elements that don't work properly at the moment. The only reason any of us still play it is on the good faith that when/if it launches, it'll have more content to keep us entertained.
Does this excuse the inactivity we've been having? No, not in the least, but you shouldn't really expect much else. There's two things to do in DF: Loot and Grind, neither of which are of particular interest when you compare DF to other games that have more content and options than DF, that are mmo's.
Should you worry about the clan? No, not really. Even if DF crumbles into dust, we'll still be here in one form or another, because we have friends here. All of the 'members" we get that "leave" weren't meant to be here. They weren't capable of fitting in with the rag-tag group of misfits we have here. Df is a game, all it will ever be is a game, but the friendships we've crafted here are more than that, and it's what's most important. Am I saying we should just abandoned things? No, but if we're going to fix things, we should address the problems and figure out what we can fix and what we can't. Worrying will get us no where.

| Exactly what I've always thought, Birkin. Umbrella will be just fine, regardless of what happens in DF. As long as there's at least a handful of us left, we'll be ok. I'm pretty sure I'll be the very last one to go.
But it's true, we haven't been getting a bunch of new regulars lately, but then again, we stopped getting people that were in it for the long run pretty much immediately after we were founded.
I think the only oldfag we have that didn't join within a month of our creation is Birkin. There's also a few others that have stuck it out for about a year.

| 'bout Wesker? XD Anyways, I've realized that Umbrella isn't going to be some great, awesome clan. At least, not pre-3D/Release. However, it won't die, because as mentioned, too many of us are too good of friends to go anywhere. No, not an excuse for inactivity, as I actually hate inactivity excuses. But, still. Also, Umbrella's peak, was when Pest lead it, and when Wesker lead it. Dunno my point, but I'll say it anyways. | |
