BACKSTORY:
Planet 5829-X is a recently found planet on the fringes of the Imperium. An exploration team was sent on the planet, within 2 day's they found ancient ruins that shook with power. A small detachment of Imperial Guardsmen were sent to explore the site after discovering the ruins. The planet was partially that of a lush jungle, and the rest was a barren wasteland, devoid of all forms of life, and riddled with large craters in the terrain that were of undiscerning origin.
Daily, the exploration team would send a report over VOX-frequencies to the over-head fleet orbiting the planet, and as the exploration continued, they would begin to notice strange, blue and white figures, stalking them from afar, hidden against the tree lines and rocks. Initally discerned as Eldar troops, reinforcements were called in to reinforce the ground position, and eradicate the potential Xeno threat.
However, instead of a full battalion, only a meager handful of troops were sent in the re-supply. A total of two hundred and fourty men, of which a quarter of were Eldar experts, were sent in to aid in the investigation and fortification of the ruins, and cross-examin the ruins for Eldar origins. However before these inspections could be completed, a warp storm would appear upon the gathering of guardsmen. Lingering ominously in the sky. Yet invisible to the orbiting fleet, and the ground-based soldiers.
As the exploration of the ruins progressed, a Dig-team was sent in with vehicles, to further drill into the depths of the temple. This would prove catastrophic, the second they broke ground, vehicles would seize up, soldiers and works came down with a mysterious illness, communications were filled with nothing but static, and random electronics would seize up and fail at seemingly random.
Reports of these happenings had some how reached back to the Inquisitorial Ordos, and suspect of Daemonic taint had spread through it. An inquisitor of the Ordo Malleus was sent to investigate these rumors and superstitions, and report back on any daemonic corruption. When the Inquisitor arrived, and began their investigation, they would turn up that ten troopers had gone missing from their daily patrol.
The Field HQ set on full alert, and a search sent out, the missing men would be found. Disemboweled, flayed, eaten, and desecrated; though no symbols of chaos carved into them, the suspect of suspicion changed once more, from the corruption of chaos unto the putrid green flesh of the Orkz.
The discovery of the Dead guardsmen, and rumors of not one, but three foul threats to the imperum got new reinforcements, the field HQ now a full command post, with a resounding one hundred thousand guardsmen under their commander. Shortly after, first contact since planet fall with the Xenos had commenced, the Eldar had shown themselves. A group of guardsmen, out on patrol, had come upon a wounded Farseer, a warning given that the planet should be abandoned. An eerie sensation dawned upon the patrols Sergeant, and a scan of the surrounding revealed that they were not alone, lasguns readied, last stand prepared, the soldiers prepared to make their stand against the banshee's and Warp Spiders that now surrounded them.
Never one to spare compassion, even to the Xenos. The squad medic would approach the farseer, and attend to her wounds, laying her upon a stretcher and moving her twords her companions. Pleased that this had not ended in fighting, and that the soldiers had spared their far-seer, they left without a shot fired. The patrol continued onwards, heading back twords the outpost, only to come across a burned, and desecrated tau warrior. Next to the warrior, lay the smoldering, desecrated corpse of an Ork. The guardsmen made it back to the Outpost without incident, and relayed the story, sent back to their ship by the Inquisitor as they had helped a Xeno, and would be tried for heresy.
As the Squad was being taken away, the all to familiar sound of thunder-hawks and drop-pods would ring out, dozens of them landing on the outpost, bringing with them numerous Guardsmen, and the heavily armored Space Marines. While there was no exact count by the squad that had left, there were at least forty thunder hawks, and at least two dozen space marine drop pods.
Now, anyone who was anyone know that where there were space marines, there was going to be battle. And it was not one single chapter that had been sent to this strange planet on the fringes, no, numerous chapters had sent small companys of Battle Brothers to assist in this effort. And as were there so many chapters, so too were guardsmen deployed, from all types of divisions, from light infantry, to artillery.
Shortly after the wide landing operations, the orbiting navy confirmed the presence of Eldar, Tau, and Ork ground troops, unable to assist the ground troops as numerous crafts from the varied xeno race's had come into play, and had engaged the imperial fleet. Due to the dwindling supplies, and lack of reinforcements, the Space Marines and Imperial Guard would set aside their rivalry's for the time being, agreeing to work together to purge the threat. They'd even managed to convince the inquisitor to help them in their crusade.
The Inquisitor would soon make herself an Office within the Field HQ, vowing to ensure that no matter the cost, the planet would not fall into the hands of the Enemies of man kind. Shortly after this oath, a large explosion rocked the very planet itself, a defening boom that could be heard clear across the planet. Mixed scouting parties of Land Raiders and Marauders were sent to investigate the cause, and discovered that a massive Ork Rok had crashed into the planet, one of the largest that had been seen yet. While keeping their distance, it was clear the green menace was swarming out in large droves, small encampments being set up around the landing Rok.
Meanwhile, those with psychic powers, the librarians and Psykers who'd made planet fall, would shudder with fear, the storm that had been brewing over head, would split open. The forces of Chaos undivided arrived en-mass, spilling out of the storm in their own section of the wastelands.
Tau outposts had also poped up admist the chaos of the Ork Rok, and the Warp storm spewing out the forces of chaos. Kroot seen in the distance helping to set up the outpost, and soon with the help of their kroot allies, began to take portions of the jungle landscape.
Knowing the Eldar were on hand, the Guardsmen requested, and received further aid on their patrols in the form of two space marines per patrol. Unfortunately, the Eldar were not the only ones on scene, and the dark Eldar had come, sensing the carnage about to unfold upon the planet, and eager for fresh blood and Slaves, they too began to make base planetside.
Already taxed to the limit, with multiple factions of hostile threats practically surrounding them, the situation only took a turn for the worse, reports came down from the Navy fleet stationed over head, Necron Tomb-ships had arrived in orbit, and were making planet fall. The Eldar, knowing the true threat of the Necron's, sent an emissary to the Tau and made an Alliance, to work together and exterminate the threat of the Dark Eldar and Necron forces that had Arrived. Knowing this would not be enough, the Eldar went in disguise to the guardsmen, begging for an alliance, while it was a hard fought debate with the Inquisitor there, even she knew the threat looming was too great to refuse the help.
Much to the new fledgling alliances surprise, they had discovered that the Forces of Chaos were now working along side the Dark Eldar and Orkz, a daunting force to be sure, and with the threat of the Necron's still looming over them all. The breaking point had been reached, and passed, the situation bleak, as the three groups steeled themselves for the coming battles, and waited within the calm before the storm.
