I'm Resigning

It took me a while to realize that it was kind of 'me' that was wrong with leadership. I haven't been a very good leader bean, mainly because I based my leadership on my knowledge of the game, not my knowledge of the people who I play with.

I am therefore resigning my position as Umbrella Corporation CEO. The current command structure should remain as it is, and my position will no longer be necessary.

I want to make it blatantly clear that this has been a long time coming, and it in no way is based on my support for Havoc's site expansion. It was a good idea, I still think it is a good idea, and it has nothing to do with why I am a bad leader. I took the top spot way too early, and without the respect and dedication that it took to be a leader. Anyone could be a 'bad' leader. I do not want to be a 'bad' leader. I want to be an excellent one, and I can no longer do it here after trying and failing.

You can say anything you want about me being a great guy, blah blah blah, etc. But when it comes down to it, since I took office with HB, we have shrank steadily in our active player base, and activity on these forums. Considering there has been a massive boom of new players on DF recently, I can either blame our lack of an employee retention program, or my own failings as a leader. I have chosen the latter to blame, as others have pointed out, we are not an actual company, so the lack of a benefits package is not a drawback for most.

Final Point: This is not 'goodbye forever UC.' Awe: I will murder you if you attempt to hold a funeral in my honor. I will be putzing around on the forums from time to time, but I just don't feel that I could make a positive impact if I remained a full time member here after resigning.

That's like, 2/9 on this clan. I didn't think you were doing badly, anyway. There's no need to leave, either. No one's going to hold it against you if you don't want to lead anymore.

Also, not many people can....'cope' with the others on this forum. I thought there was a lot of players in Umbrella that didn't visit the forum. Activity here doesn't matter that much to in game activity.

me man, I was thrown into the thick of things, too. When I first became an admin, I ddn't
know my butt from a hole in the ground. It was only through actively talking to the others
and hanging around that I found my way around things and just gradually settled into pace.

And I'm resigning from leadership in DF. Like I said, I won't abandon you guys here. I consider you friends, or as near enough as you can get on the internet. It just didn't feel right with me as leader. I'll admit, things haven't been quite right with UC on DF and me ever since weskey announced his retirement. So like I said, this was an inevitable conclusion.

As far as I could tell, you were doing a whole lot better than me at leader.

I would strongly suggest you stick around as leader. I am lost without your help. And even if not a leader, you should stick around. Umbrella needs you. And I have school still. My activity will be dwindling slowly. Best I can hope for is checking in every couple days.

In short, we still need you at leader.

I can't stand by while the 'the only one fit to lead is one who does not wish to lead' card gets pulled on me.

I'm off. Retired into Dark Sector with the rest of the former members of Umbrella (It kinda seems that way sometimes. That or BD.)

I will still be around. No worries there. I've already said I'll keep popping in and helping out where I can. You should probably get around to resetting the clan thread. again.

I really hope we all don't start leaving because if that happens, umbrella will fall shortly after. And I really wish you'd continue to lead by HB's side but I guess at the end of the day, it's your choice. :-/

Here's my asessment (keep in mind i have limited time to look things over)

1. we have a hard time getting new players cause we have a new clan topic on DF so instead of 400 pages theres like 40, which makes us look green to the average player.

2. recruiting is a job not a leisure, when i played alot at least once a week i'd play in a nub game for an hour or so and see who was around and how well they played, if they were lvl 20+ or close, i'd invite them into umbrella and explain what we do. Which is why i recruited alot.

3. A couple times a week i'd go to the "i need a clan" thingy, and anyone who mentioned resident evil paraphrenalia i talked to em, also i tried to recruite 20+ players who looked promising.
- The hardest part about this is trying not to sound like a flame PM fromt he countless other clans who prolly PMed hem already.

4. Looking interesting, prolly the most crucial of all. Why do you think i put so much god damn effort into everything i did like the front page! If you look awesome and organized, then you'll appeal to more serous players. Which is why the I.D. Cards and the Madness Player roster help get recruites.

5. Actually being active. You gotta have MULTIPLE people talking on a clan page, if its only a few, then you look dead. people dont want to join a clan if nothing going on. And i'm not talking about holding events no one shows up to. try and work the market, hel find items members need, talk abut cool shit that hapened or how your day went, fight other member for fun.

6. a minor trait, level. Most new players want to join a group of high level players, or at least people working up, just talking alot doesnt appeal to all.


Ask Wesker and birkin, i was always busting my ass for the clan one way or another each week (except when i did top PvP). Also it help to talk with other clans, get our or your name thrown around so your not another blank face. I was always talking with people and because of this when i joined a game of lvl 20-40ish i always had someone go "Whoa its Demon!" im in no way one of the best players but i was popular (not as much as Jarki though )

Not to mention i monitored new recruit in umbrella, if they were jackass or way to childishi tried to help them if it was a lost cause usually they were booted out. No one wants to play with a asshole, or an 8 year old who dont know shit.

Really wish i had as much time to play as i did Dec-Feb i'd have liked to take a crack at running this

Not to be blunt, but the DF side of the clan is dying.

Been that way for a long time octoph.

I guess. But its been pretty bad the last week or so. Oh well.

Plain text. It was based on personality.

DF side of Umbrella fluctuates. One second it's on it's last breath, the next it's leaping bounds. We've come to expect it, and the last breath bit seems to just weed out anyone that isn't completely and utterly loyal to Umbrella.
