I suddenly got excited for Reach a few nights ago.

Until shown better I still firmly believe that Halo is currently the best and most enjoyable FPS out there.
The Pros:
Forge: I don't see any other FPS out there with a forge world that is entirely customizable.. Your mind is the limit in Reach. Forge leads to elaborate and often exciting new add ons to maps that make no two custom games the same. Also, the best of the best can sometimes get chosen to be played on in a double exp weekend. I don't know about you but I would be excited as hell to see a variant I made be played on.
With forge, not all games are about seeing who gets the most kills. Believe it or not Forge can turn the FPS shooter you know and love into things like: A race track, an obstacle course, a gladiator arena, a hide and seek map, a zombie apocalypse, I think you get my point.
Theater: In Halo there is a constant aspect of WTF kinda kills. You can stick a Warthog as it flies over you in the air, and kill someone else with the burning wreckage once it lands. You can launch yourself off a grav lift and no scope someone driving a mongoose on the other side of a map. You can swing a hammer at a rocket and deflect it into an unsuspecting passerby. These kinds of moments are infinite, and happen on a pretty consistent basis if you play the game. It makes the action in COD just seem tame.. And even if you do something epic in COD if you weren't recording it, it is gone forever..
Level Playing Field – The lack of unlockables in Halo is actually a pro in this sense. Everyone is on the same playing field in terms of equipment. There are no level 50 generals who have weapons that no one else can use yet, there are no rewards that give peoplewith kill streaks even MORE kills. Everyone has access to the same set of weapons, and in the end it’s just your reflexes that decides who wins and who loses.
Vehicles - Sure the higher levels don't use them but when I get bored of just running around there is nothing like hopping on a ghost and getting a 25 kill splatter spree. Or perhaps me and a friend want to test our teamwork skills with a scorpion or a warthog. In my opnion, vehicles can be the most fun part of any Halo match, and it’s something that COD only briefly touches on when you can hop into the gunseat of an attack helicopter or an AC 13.
Cons:
Realism: "It takes two clips of the Assault Rifle to kill people!" "You jump too high!" "People tbag!"
The largest issue people seem to have is on Halos realism. My only reply back to that is I'm playing as a souped up human hybrid with enough muscle to bend in tanks. I'm also playing on foreign planets fighting in a constant war against an armada of aliens.. Yeh.. I'm really looking for a realistic game.
Why I don't like MW2:
Reward the Rich – The game rewards players of higher levels by giving them more perks, more weapons to choose from, and most significantly of all, players killing a ton of people are given killstreaks that can kill even MORE people, something that can turn a close game into a complete landslide almost instantly. Killstreaks are awesome when YOU get them, but when you spawn and you’re immediately drilled in the head by a predator missile, you can't help but feel the match is already lost.
Same old shit – Even if it is fun run around killing soldiers with various types of bullet shooting weapons, it doesn’t really seem like there’s a whole lot to do that you haven’t seen before after about 20 hours or so. Whereas some ridiculous games of Halo can produce kills that defy all laws of physics and reason, the coolest thing you can do in COD is what? Throw a throwing knife really far? Get a double headshot? Cool in their own right, but epic? Not so much.

As for best FPS? I couldn't personally say any single game is the best FPS.
Overall? Source Engine. I'll count that as a game, because of the fact that it includes Counter-Strike Source, Half-Life 2, Portal, Team Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead 1 and 2, all of the thousands of mods...
Etc.
Most "WTFLOL" moment-including game would be a three-way tie between L4D, L4D2, and Halo.
Biggest most epic battles would be MAG.
But yeah. I couldn't say Halo is the best FPS. I'd go into a huge list but I really am not in the mood. If it is demanded of me, then I might, but I really don't want to have to put in so much effort.
Anyways. Yeah.
I actually still wanna catch up on the Halo games, regardless. XD
*Demands!* (jk ^.^)
But yeah, I messed up saying Halo is the best fps. I've played many single player fps's that I like story wise a bit more.
What I was saying about Halo being in the win category was in its multiplayer aspects. I was comparing it mostly to games like bad company 2, and modern warfare 2. All games which have about the same form of multiplayer. (One big map, death match style). I wouldn't put L4D and L4D2 in the same category as Halo 3 because of how different the two games are in gamestyle. I myself enjoy both of the games (though I don't own either) and think multiplayer in them is epic. But still, you aren't doing the same thing in either which is why your mood could switch between them so much. It is perhaps possible to compare Halo: Reach and L4D2 in the future as there will be a game type in Reach were there are four spartans given a mission and then there are four elites given an armada of grunts and the task of keeping the spartans from doing this mission. (Can't wait)
Either way there is a high possibility that some people who have clearly stated their distaste in Halo have not looked into Reach any further then the video I just posted.
If your one of said people would you kindly pull the stick out your ass, shut the hell up, and find a thread your wanted in instead of annoyingly and immaturely flaming a thread meant for those both excited and curious about Halo: Reach? You won't? Well it is worth a shot..
On the note of call of duty I'm not completely hating on the game. I both love and have played the campaigns of most of the call of duties. They are fun, and sometimes well thought out (mw2). However I don't share that same love for the multiplayer. I believe it is given way too much credit for what it is. Fun. Fast paced, ultra repetitive gameplay. Why I say it is repetitive is because the characters aren't customizable (yay for the fix in black ops!), and every game is almost exactly the same thanks to no vehicles, and no map editor. Two things I find demanding in a game since there is clearly another game (which came out 3 years earlier as I've failed to mention) that has done just that.
Halo 3 alone has exactly 6,257 possible ways to look going out into battle and 3,840 different emblem styles, and map varients are limited only by your time, imagination, skill, and amount of in game forge spending money.. Halo: Reach is going to have even more to do with more character customization and a vastly more detailed forge world. I don't know many multiplayer fps's that can boast that.
On the note of mag. I wouldn't compare it to anything on 360.. That would be highly unfair and a soar not towards 360 lovers.. Blue ray is hax. The end. Lol

I just really never liked how arcade-y Halo felt. I like feeling like the guns in a game have authority...shields and jumping and taking a full smg clip to drop someone ruins that for me.
Plus, I actually LIKE the rpg upgrading elements in CoD. I suck at FPS games. So I like the idea that if I play enough my character can improve to help my chances of surviving more than 5 seconds.
But really, I've never played an FPS that I fully liked. Half-Life 2 is probably the best I've experienced.

Naw, jarki, I gotta disagree with you on the most epic battles. Planetside had the biggest and most epic battles I've ever seen in a game. But I do agree on you with source.

After finally bothering to play through the entirety of Halo 1 (well, maybe 90%, counting off for amnesia, and the accidental cutscene skipping) I've come to find that it's actually a pretty enjoyable game. I plan to start slugging it out with Halo 2 come the morrow.
Once I get a tad bit more skilled, I can totally see online multiplayer being a blast.

well I like Halo... a lot. The fact of the matter is that Havoc created the Halo topic so that we could talk about Halo not for people to just randomly walk in and say that it sucks for no apparent reason. Some of you guys don't like Halo I can respect that. Is it so hard for people to respect each others opinion? If you don't like Halo that's your opinion and I won't try to change your mind. Is it really that hard to let us talk about Halo. I do realize that topics tend to get off topic. But this is not a debate this is a discussion about Halo between people who like Halo and nothing else.

Yes. If you honestly like Justin Bieber then you should be able to create a topic about him without everyone making you feel of a lesser person for liking him. Now it is highly possible somebody would create another thread to talk about how much they hate him because that's just the way people are. But as for outright saying he sucks in the thread you made isn't exactly right..
Personally I don't find it a big deal if someone posted something like "Eh.. He isn't my favorite but I still listen to him." That is just fine. Your comment will probably be ignored by the group because they probably don't care that he isn't your favorite; but at least your not outright making it sound like those people are idiots for liking him.
