Parkour Empty

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parkour

I am looking to find a way to include parkour in D20 modern.

One way that Birk suggested is as a feat.

I am thinking it would give competance bonus to Bal, jump, climb and tumble, and maybe an added skill called free running. It would also make it so Jump and climb where dex based skills.

I still don't quite see how being able to perform parkour would allow you to use your
Dexterity in place of Strength when it comes to Strength related skill checks. I can see
that with Weapon Finesse, because you choose speed over force when attacking. But
I can't see a ballerina being able to weight lift stuff, so why would it work in reverse?

As mentioned, you can handle parkour in a few different ways. Considering the
physical nature of parkour, and how it encompasses multiple skills, you can kind of
narrow it down into two camps: A generalized feat, or a method of movement (such
as flying or climbing)

I'll present you with an example feat. You want it Dex based, so I'll start with that.

Parkour [General Feat]
Prerequisites: Dexterity 15, Run.
Benefit: When running, the player with this feet gains a +# circumstance bonus to
the following skills: Climb, Jump, Balance and Tumble checks to overcome obstacles
that require a Dice Challenge to overcome. Bonuses from other feats stack.

I guess that sounds about right, but when when I think of it, I see it as a char using there body in a different way, and knowing how to use their environment to climb easier and jump better.

Could Free Running be a possible feat?

"Free Running" is a term for combining gymnastics and parkour.

In dnd, there's a feat called Acrobatic, it gives you +2 to Jump and Tumble checks.
So yea, Acrobatic + Parkour = Free Running. At least, that's how I see it.

When you get to the nit and grit of Free Running and Parkour, they're essentially
the exact same thing. It's only the mindset that differs. Going by what Wikipedia
says, the main difference between the two is this: Parkour = efficiency, while
Free Running is more creative flare.

The only way I can think of to involve both in D&D without them being the exact
same thing, would be to make Parkour a mode of movement, and Free Running
the feat I mentioned above. But I'm not entirely sure how this could be done.

Like I said, parkour would basically be a series of obstacle/Dice Challenge courses,
as in, you'd have to succeed a number of Dice Challenges related to parkour. With
each success, you'd advance to the next challenge. At the end of the challenge, you'd
be at your destination.
