Umbrella Corporation can actually make money? Woah.

I was considering using clan funds and certain clan assets, along with an investment from me, to open an Umbrella Quick-Buy service.

These services tend to make money, as long as you have time to resell the stuff you buy... And so far, we've outlasted everybody in terms of clan longevity.

Thoughts? Post 'em. I won't do anything without consent from the majority of HLG-3.

Basically, we take unwanted items off people's hands for less than those items are worth. It's the price they pay for speed.

Then we resell them.

Also, if you could take the song out of your signature please, Relih... It's not very good quality, and some members wouldn't like it. I know it's fitting, though.

working on the assumption that things arent going to get any cheaper than they are now, i'd say this is a fine idea. a good way of reinvesting the clans money, and if we get a few of one item, we can always make it available to our members in the meantime.

what you got in mind inre: making it happen if we do go ahead?

I've got 1.1M or around there that I could throw into the idea, so if it gets the OK, I'm guessing we've got around 1.5-1.6M to quickbuy stuff with. Assuming nobody else chips in.

i am completely skint right now but i might be able to scrape up another $200k startup funds. especially if the server changes its mind about giving me some decent loot tonight :/

Good idea, but the market is of dubious direction at the moment. Prices still seem to be on a downward trend, though they have stabilized lately.

Also, rare and useful items such as the Amp, Doom Cane and Corpse Blaster will usually make a profit in the long run. Though I'm not sure if you wish to wait a year to re-sell a Corpse Blaster.

I actually think we're about to see a rise in prices, if credits have any say in it.

if the latest looting change is permanent, prices will be rising sharply again IMO. they have crashed so low because of christmas presents and the awesome loot rates, now both of those are gone...

also Jabba, have you seen how much amp's are now? i guess not. and seeing as everyone and his dog bought a CB, they wont get lucrative for a long time.

we should be after cheap level 100 equipment, particularly M60's, FM MAGS, AB's, VSS', xm25's, that kind of thing.

The change, as far as I can tell, is permanent. Also, for reference, DC's have been out for 18 months. and have grown to about 125% value. I am hanging on to a CB, but that's because I like it as an aggro-building weapon. beats out the GAU from what I can see.

If you launch 'today' you might be able to buy a fair bit of equipment, but it will take ages for the market to start recovering properly. Even though the loot rates are crap, the only way the market will recover fully is if 1: someone (not naming any names here) breaks the game and gets infinite ammo and buys it out, or 2: DF gets a large influx of new players.

A large influx of players will actually help our chances more. New players means new money, new credits. New credits means lower credit prices and more purchases off the market. more money changes hands, the economy slowly cranks back into gear and prices will re-normalize to their expected value. Unfortunately, with the crash in credit cost for weapons, things like the grinder will not drive much higher than where they are at. Some weapons will recover, ab, df, k-50, etc, but not by much.

TL:DR: if you are to take anything from this, buy now, sell much later. Look at the HMG market as your trend-setter. Once you see the lowest price of an m60 back to about 1.8-2M, it's time to start looking at selling again.

About a possible influx of new players: can anyone remember the page where it told you how many new accounts were made per month all the way back to 2008? I saw it once, but have never found it again.
