Sword of Sacrifice has been a good learning experience for me. Being my first RP, it taught me several things that I should add and omit in following roleplays. As such, my next one is for the most part written up, and I expect it will be quite enjoyable.

However.

My biggest mistake in SoS was that I made it for my own enjoyment. In reality, RPs are supposed to be made for the enjoyment of others. Therefore, I'd like to see some suggestions from all of you for what I aught to add and omit in our next adventure, regarding both the content within the roleplay, and how it should be played.

I look forward to reading and responding to your suggestions.

Oh, and keep in mind that the next RP will be set in a mideival setting, much like SoS.

We start at level 0.

At level 1 we gain an ability of our choosing.

At level 5 we gain a new ability, that we do not choose. Keep in mind that it should be useful to the player.

At 10, we choose another.

20, we gain a skill that we do not choose.

4 total skills, 2 that we choose.

Mage & Warrior=Spell Sword, Sorcerer, Apprentice
Ranger & Mage=Idk what these would be called.

An elf will always be faster than a human of the same level.
Humans rule the world, for some reason. They are also the basic 'Jack of All Trades'.

Witchhunter, Elemental Ranger, uhhh....yeah...

I think more weapon types would be neat. Like...not just every warrior running around with a sword. Mages could have Staves, as well as spellbooks. Rangers have bows, crossbows, guns? Maybe?
And racial bonuses, but not overly significant ones. Maybe let rangers and mages have a "Light armor" while Warriors get normal armor? Idk, just a thought.

I would say enchanted weaponry/items, but that would be a bit over the top.

I had planned for there to be no levels, and your luck would be increased if you made your character realistic, and your luck would be decreased the more uber you made yourself. Therefore, you could have as many skills as you wanted, as long as you were willing to cope with the difficulties.

However, your plan will be accepted instead if it gains enough support.

Already planned to do so. Consider this new RP like runescape in the sense that you can do anything you want whenever you want, but instead of being limited by experience points, you're limited by how willing you are to accept danger. For instance, a normal run-of-the-mill swordsman might have to fight an ogre, but someone who's character boasts to be an expert swordmaster would probably have to fight a whole gang of ogres at the same time.

I had wanted to avoid this, however it would be more realistic, so it will be implemented. therefore, I will need suggestions for all the choosable races.

That already exists in SoS, and will exist in the new RP as well.

Already planned. Unlike SoS, not everyone will be bound by the same armour type. There will be different protectives for each class.

Actually, the best equipment in the game is powerfully enchanted, and there are weaker enchanted weapons to be found across the map. Also, people who select the Enchanter class will be able to give equipment special abilities as well.

If you think about the dice feature though it makes battles more complicated and annoying and takes longer to do. I would rather rely upon Trigger's decisions than the Chaos Theory as my companion..

Dice/quarter flipping/cyoa decisions will not be used unless enough people really want me to do so. In this RP, people are allowed to orchestrate their own battles. They are also allowed to give their battle-writing authority to me or someone within their party.

The game will feature a battle-karma system, in which players are punished when they perform too well in fights for too long, and players will be rewarded for remaining humble in their battles.

I expect people to avoid fights when they can, or when the risk seems too great. Realism will be a big concern in this RP (not counting the obvious things that cant be realistic, such as magic)

Here's what I'd like some suggestions for. Since this RP is for the players, I figure the players should have more say in it's creation than they did in SoS

~ Enemies. Maybe even a miniboss or two. The only enemies I'm determined to have are the bosses (All of whom are already created)

~ Weapons (Keep it within the time period though. Yes, there will be guns, but they are mostly just muskets and worse.)

~ Gameplay mechanics that you think would make it more fun.

~ Items (I already have an ever-growing list of items, but I'd be happy to switch them out with new suggested ones)

~ Things that were present in SoS that definitely don't need to exist in this new tale

~ Other things to avoid


Remember, if you don't make a ton of suggestions prior to the completion of SoS, you might wind up getting a follow-up RP that sucks just as bad.

Random update (triple post ftw)

As of 3:44 pm, the entire storyline of DiE has been written out. I'm quite happy with it. Another thing I disliked about my execution of SoS was that I was very loose with my secrets. I had a nasty tendency to give away the plotline prematurely, which is something I will strive avoid the next go-around.

Eh, well for anyone who hasn't noticed, SoS has now been placed on the fast track to the end.

However, I don't plan to end it in an inappropriate fashion, like the Raccoon city CYOA.

Basic map. No landmarks added. Comments? The shape of the continent matters little to me, as long as there's a body of water around the middle, and an island occupied by Enburgh in which the south pole resides. Feel free to post your own maps.

Current selectable starting classes

(Everyone is equipped with, and can use a knife)

Melee
~ Swordsman (Only uses swords)
~ Axeman (Only uses Axes, and blunt weapons like clubs. Flails too.)
~ Spearman (Only uses spears, and similar weapons)
~ Soldier (Can use all three, but is not as skilled with them)
~ Assassin (Can only use the knife, but is prone to frequent critical hits)
~ Brawler (Utilizes knuckle weapons, and can disable enemies with certain attacks)

Magic
~ Pyromancer (Fire mage)
~ Aquamancer (Water mage)
~ Thundermancer (Eletric mage)
~ Geomancer (earth mage)
~ Grassmancer (forest mage)
~ Sorcerer (Can use all of the above magics but are not as skilled with them)
~ Ethigee (Black magic)
~ Priest (Holy magic)
~ Conjurer (Can summon creatures to assist in battle)

Range

~ Ninja (Throws small weapons, like knives, throwing axes, and shuriken)
~ Rifleman (Can use muskets, which are stronger than bows, but much slower)
~ Bowman (Uses bows)
~ Crossbowman (Uses crossbows)
~ Javelineer (Can throw spear-type weapons accurately)
~ Ranger (Can use them all, but is not as skilled with them)

Support
~ Medic (Can heal HP)
~ Herbalist (Can heal MP)
~ Enchanter (Can add buffs to weaponry and armour)
~ Seer (Can see the future, meaning I give them valuable bits of information)
~ Bard (Can play music. Might have certain effects on enemy monsters)



Current selectable starting skills (The more you have, the more you suck at them)

~ Engineer (Can repair armour and weapons)
~ Smithee (Can forge new armour and weapons under certain circumstances)
~ First Aid (Can heal small amounts of health, not nearly as good as medics)
~ Second Aid (Can recharge mana at a faster rate)
~ Free Run (Is much more agile)
~ Sneak (Less likely to be detected)
~ Hawkeye (Can often detect threats from a distance)
~ Thick Skin (Less damage when unarmored)

Only kinda read it, but

Just a quick rename.

Sorcerer to Elementalist. A sorcerer can basically do ALL magic types, while Elementalist can only do those above Sorcerer.

And also, Earth and Forest magic are basically intertwined.

Geomancers deal with rocks, boulders, and can change the ground around the caster (Think of the earthbenders from avatar, if you ever watched it)

Grassmancers deal with forest life. leafs turn razor sharp and fly at enemies, trees rot and fall on people, grass turns to spikes, etc.

As for your suggestion, holy and black magic generally cannot be performed by the same person. They require a pure or corrupted heart, respectively, and are much more powerful than elemental magic. However, by choosing holy or black, you lose the element advantage that elemental mages have against enemies that are weak to that particular type of elemental damage.

But, who knows? I haven't put together the "promotion" classes yet. Maybe there will be a class that can use both holy and black?

Edit = Hmm, your suggestion gave me an idea. I'll work on it later.

Heh, looks like I lied to you guys again, hopefully for the last time. As it turns out, I will be ending SoS in a rather cheap manner after all. Basically, I'm going to go post the final battle, however it has a pre-determined ending, and will be fought solo, unlike what I had originally wanted. (Nonetheless, the story itself will end in the way it had always been planned) Production of this post will begin as soon as this message is sent. After the game "completes" feel free to keep on RP-ing until your character's story is finished, and I will continue to do my duties as game master. Although, I doubt any of you will want to do so.

Why am I ending it so abruptly? Well, like with the Racoon City Cyoa, I prefer to kill my work myself, rather than watch is die.

I thank all of you who've watched it with me up to this point.


As for Damnation in Eternity (DiE) it won't begin for awhile, as it is still in the planning phase. Feel free to post your own RPs in the meantime, and I won't do anything to steal your thunder. =P

Ah. Well, you're missing a string of ad-libbed adventures that would have led to boss battles with Vicar in Vahelon, Demon the Black in the question-mark at the upper left part of the map, Jedro in the woods near Highfront, and Les in Highfront itself, followed by the final battle with Barth in Castle Vahelon.

Key story elements will still be explained in mid battle (I'm about 30% done with it. Fire Emblem slows my SoS progress)
