Upgrade or Buy New

So, all the hype about Left 4 Dead 2 has sent me into the L4D wiki to gather information. I can no
longer sit idle and let this and many other great games pass me by. So, I've decided that within the
next few months, I would like to be able to play either Left 4 Dead or Left 4 Dead 2.

The problem is this: My pc is outdated to run the software for these games, even for the bare
minimum requirements. Consulting with my friend, I've learned that I can up-grade my comp to
near preferred requirements to play both for as low as three to four-hundred dollars, give or take.
The CPU is what will cost me the most, and despite my video-card being integrated with the system,
I probably won't need to upgrade the graphics card/

On the other hand, I could purchase a new laptop that could do run both games, and more should
I choose to play them, but the problem is the screens are awfully small, would make it pretty hard
to play on them, but then you have to weigh the handiness of owning a laptop, since you have a pc
on the go.

So, I'm stuck wondering what I should do? I don't plan on buying a new computer every 5 to 10
years, that's a total waste of cash in the long run. But then having a Laptop would be freaking
sweet, especially if I could pick up wifi connections for free.

I want your feedback though, maybe you can help me decide on the best option.

Buy a laptop. Not the crappy kind either, don't waste your money on a "craptop".

Get a good, reliable one. It'll save you money in the long run if you pick wisely.

I speak from experience. I got an MSI EX670. It had everything I wanted. Its own graphics card, 4 gigs of ram, 320 gig hard drive, etc... And only $699.

Maybe it was something I did, although I doubt it, but it ended up breaking in numerous ways.

Lesson learned: Make sure you can rely on what you buy.

Anime, about... Well, nothing technically. I put it all on my 16GB Flash Drive. Technically it was around 13 gigs total, though.

And I believe hentai is under the "Porn" Category, so none of that either...

Sad to say, as much time as I've spent on the computer, I don't know all that much about
them. I knew a few brand names, a few key phrases, and such, but nothing that you can't
pick up with a little time on the pc.

So when it comes to buying PC's, knowing which brands are best for which purpose, how to
modify and enhance your pc, and the specs. I'm pretty much in the dark.

My price is pretty low right now, I'm only making about $140 a month, and $40 of that is
spent in gas. Some times I make a little extra, though. Nothing will really be decided right
away, I have to take care of a few things first before I can start saving, I may have a better
job by then (I hope), but guesstimations would be, 450 minimum, 650 tops.
