Astigmatism! My optometrist told me so today! I bet I have twice as much astigmatism as all you chumps combined! >=D

I have glasses....I'm nearsighted. Woo?

You get to wear glasses now, and should practice taking them off in a very dramatic way.

I can't see more than a foot out from my face. I think I win.

I'm sposed to wear glasses, but I kind of sat on mine and broke them, i havent been able to pay for them yet -.-

I'm nearsighted but not horribly so. I do have to wear glasses when taking notes though.

So, help me get this straight. Near sighted is when you can't see close up, and far sighted is
when you can't see far away, right?

I have above perfect vision in my left eye........... The other is normal. Am I special?

Oh, I've been nearsighted too for about a decade. It's like being underwater when I'm not wearing anything corrective.

Funnily enough, after seven years of using the same brand of contacts, my optometrist told me to switch to a different type. This newer brand was supposedly made of better stuff, and would allow my eyes to "breathe" better.

Well... I switched. And as a result, my eye began to slowly change shape, somewhat. According to the eye-doctor, they became more solid, and better moisturized. In short, my eyes became healthier.

But as a result of getting "healthier" the increased fluid and eye density somehow gave me astigmatism. Hooray for taking a giant step backwards.

Astigmatism is an optical defect in which vision is blurred due to the inability of the optics of the eye to focus a point object into a sharp focused image on the retina. This may be due to an irregular or toric curvature of the cornea or lens. There are two types of astigmatism: regular and irregular. Irregular astigmatism is often caused by a corneal scar or scattering in the crystalline lens and cannot be corrected by standard spectacle lenses, but can be corrected by contact lenses. Regular astigmatism arising from either the cornea or crystalline lens can be corrected by a toric lens. A toric surface resembles a section of the surface of an American football or a doughnut where there are two regular radii, one smaller than another. This optical shape gives rise to regular astigmatism in the eye. The first spectacle lenses that corrected astigmatism were made in Philadelphia in 1841.


I'm also near-sighted
my glasses are like grade 150 on both eyes.

I'm near-sighted, I wear contacts. Funnily, so does like 3/4 of Pinetree, like 1/2 of Prince Albert, and about 3/4 of my friends in general.

In short, all of us can't see shit without assistance.

Oh yeah, I also learned that I have some sort of ulcerous scar on my right eye. I have an idea of when it happened, but no idea how. Luckily, the scar isn't on the retina, so I can't sctually see it.

I've got glasses, and when I take them off, everything looks like a blur.
