Umbrella Prize Shop & Umbrella Tokens

Not many of you might have noticed this, but we have a neat little feature that
was adopted some time ago. It's Umbrella Tokens and the Prize Shop. You can
find the basics of it on the first page of the DF Forums.

I noticed this some time ago and planned on making it a bit more prominent,
but was never able to until now. Here is what I have this far.

Umbrella Tokens are special rewards given to players during events or special
contests which can be used to purchase prize items from Umbrella's Prize Shop.
Items are priced according to the formula bellow.

Total requirements ÷ 2 (round up or down as needed) + MC bonuses (if any) x 50.

Example:
Steel MS880 (MC: 3/1/6)
Requirements: Str: 40. Melee 80.
Price: 3,500 Tokens

40 + 80 = 120 ÷ 2 = 60 + 10 x 50 = 3,500

What I'd like to do is integrate this with our event system. It may actually
promote more people to take part in our clan events more often. Granted that
we haven't had clan events in the past couple of months. That was my own doing
though.

In either case, we shouldn't just limit awarding tokens to just those who take part
in the clan events. From what I gather, the tokens were implemented for the Donor
of The Month. I'm guessing the person who contributes the most to the clan during
the month would be awarded the points, however. This would require constant
monitoring of the clan's current member base and the donations.

Can anyone else think of acceptable causes for awarding the tokens, and in what
quantities?

10 tokens per level of the people in the event, per person.

ie, if theres 4 level 40's, and 1 wins, the winner gets 1600. or maybe make it 5 per level.

That might be a bit excessive. I want the tokens to come in relatively small clusters, so that
people will need to save up their tokens in order to get a really good prize. It gives them a
reason to keep participating in the events, and with the added rivalry, would ensure a bit of
consistency to them. Last thing you want is for a valued item to be bought out from under you
by a rival.

For moving up a rank in the clan.

I'll think some more on this in a bit here. I had a system, but it fell through. Thanks for reminding me.

Maybe for being with the clan a certain period of time awards some too.

It's not completely perfect, but it's a nice start.

So where do these coins come from? Are they just something written down or are they actually there....

They're fictional, just like the various player based points located on the DF forums (Diamond Shuriken Points, Awesome Points, Etc) and will serve a similar purpose.

Are these tokens anything like the Raccoon Tokens?

Thats alot of tokens...

Seems like a pretty neat idea, although I think the prize items would better serve =

1. Being sold, in order to increase Umbrella's treasury.
or 2. Being placed in Umbrella's armoury.

it encourages people to actually do events, i'd say do it.

Actually I thinking on that. The tokens in essence would be small, hexagonal pieces roughly the size
of half-dollars. Of course they'd be emblazoned with Umbrella's Logo. The Red/White color scheme
would remain normal, however the black inner and outer lines would be colored differently depending
on the token's value.

Originally, the tokens were categorized into three types: Bronze, Silver & Gold tokens. Bronze were
worth 50 points, Silver were worth 75 points, and Gold were worth 200 points. I'm still pondering if
I should keep the different types of tokens or just making them all equal 1 point equally.

I suggest we use jiggies instead of tokens. <3
