| Hate to keep stirring this up given how its brought so much strife in the past, but. I think that the whole group thing is getting out of hand. I mean, seriously, we're up to 12 of them and really, 3 or 4 of them could be lumped together with no real change to the "system".
There's no good reason that Normal Members, Runescape and Non-Df members can't be merged into a single group. A.S.S Serves no real purpose since Admin and Moderators handle any sort of security threats that may come about. Furthermore, can anyone in A.S.S really do anything significant save for the admin affiliated with them? Don't think I'm just picking on A.S.S members, I'm merely making a point.
We seriously need to do something about the groups. We can't just keep adding on more and more just because people wanna feel special. I'm sorry if this seems as if I'm aiming it at you, Julie. It truly isn't. This has been a problem we've had for a while that has never had a true solution and it's about time we have one.
So, lets sit down and discuss this. My opinion is thus:
* We need to merge all groups that have no significant reason or difference to warrant their own group, or have no real purpose. * We need to delete those that fail to follow the above examples and cannot be merged or lumped in with another group.

| No, no. I'm quite alright. Trigger is gone for several more days and Havoc only appears when the planets are aligned. | |

I do agree with deleting groups. But this is my input: I can't administrate a Roleplayer's group so at least leave me my colored name.. |

| I would hide them if I could. Seriously, I've tried and tried again to make the groups hidden, and still color the names. Until Forumotion fixes it, I can't do much else. | |

| I really don't see how it hurts anything. We're basically arguing over people having the right to pretty colors.
I could see if all the groups were like A.S.S and got their own sections and everything, but that would never be the case. Also, considering A.S.S hasn't made any progress in weeks, I'll be talking with the members and will probably re-integrate them into the general Umbrella Personnel group.
In my eyes, having one-member groups simply for the fact they get a fun title and a pretty color for their name is 'exactly' the type of thing we do here. We're all guilty of wanting to be special sometimes. Ideally, we could hide these on the group legend, but other than that, I don't even see where an argument can be made for extra groups being a problem.
If someone can convince me that Giving someone a custom group is dangerous to the successful operation of this website, or dangerous to the reputation or well-being of Umbrella Employees, I'll change my mind. But until then, the pretty colors stay.
EDIT: after a little research, there are hacks out there that can give users the option to change how their username displays, including colors. We could try that out and get rid of all the special color groups easily. (sidenote: the custom color name thing is only with admin approval per-account, so everyone can't be running around willy-nilly changing their color around.)

| So I found out how to make my 'rank' a special color, but alas, it does not work for usernames. It will require a 'little' more jerking around than that I'm afraid. Pest, I have a couple of ideas for possible solutions if you want to try them. | |

But until then, the pretty colors stay. No one ever said that it was a matter of security, a matter of tidiness. Fact of the matter is, not everyone IS special, not everyone CAN be special. Otherwise there is no DEFINITION of what special is. However, feeling special isn't the problem here, it's the fact that there are groups that have no rhyme or reason to have them, much less keep them around. We have TOO many groups for the amount of individuals on the site and there's just no need for all of the groups. | |

| Well if it's really an issue, then I have no problem with relinquishing my special "Triggzar" group, in which I am the sole member. Green isn't such a bad color, I suppose. In fact, it's my third favorite after yellow and purple.
While I'm on the subject, here are the groups I think we need.
Executives (Admins) Enforcers (Mods) Employees (Normal members) Associates (Non-DF members)
Notice the three primary ranks all begin with the letter "E."
Everyone knows its God's favorite letter.
