There are other threads about minecraft but they are about specific servers. This will serve as a general thread to talk about anything relating to the game.
To start things off, I am hearing a lot about a new mob which is slenderman-ish.
Notch had the following to say about them: "The Endermen are peaceful. If you look straight at them, they freeze and look at you. When you look away again, they run fast. And teleport."
he then adds
"They run TOWARDS you, not away. So if you happen to look at one, do not look away."
here is a screenshot of them, they seem to be able to hold blocks. It is possible that they may be able to collect/move and destroy blocks as well.
I am not sure when this is due out but they seem interesting. I hope that they are executed well and don't come off as annoying or uncreepy.

Those new mobs are very creepy.
And on the subject of minecraft, I coated an entire island in nether materials. Dirt was netherack, sand covered with soul sand, and stone replaced with glowstone.
I am in the process of creating a massive castle on it.
He sounds like he is going about this new mob the right way. I really look forward to this now.

Well I haven't really played minecraft since I made this topic but I figured out recently that I can kind of connect to multiplayer now, which is exciting!
Hey here to resurrect an old thread. My friends have purchased a small private server. In the future it may become a public roleplay server but for now it's just us setting up and building stuff. We were wondering if it would be possible to have the server's forums set here rather than looking into setting up a site.
In return i'm sure anyone in the clan who plays minecraft would be able to join the server, might not be much but it's all we can really offer.

Oooooh I've been wanting to get back into Minecraft, only I've no one to play with. I say go for it.
The Nuclear reactor is not as strong as i originally thought it was but several Nukes are.

Whilst stuck here in Houston with crap for internet (it took me ten minutes to load this page) I took it upon myself to grant Minecraft another serious look for the first time in over a year due to its capability for offline play.
Well, I was exceedingly pleased with all the new features : a hunger gauge, an achievement system, pet-taming, the ability to block with weapons, etc etc. I was so pleased in fact that I bought an account (Player name is "Clardy") and designed my own skin from scratch:
It's still a work in progress.
Anyway, I've decided to add Minecraft to my rotation of games, and am interested in hearing from anyone who currently plays, or would be willing to. I also need a good home server if anybody knows of one. If the game keeps my attention long enough, I might be tempted to rent my own.
I return to Mississippi and my excellent internet on the 11th. Hopefully I'll have someone to play with by then, and a place to do it in *wink wink*
I wasn't able to on my old laptop but now that i'm on my new one I intend to get back into playing it myself. My friend keeps mentioning the server he's on, if you're into roleplaying I could ask him about it for you?

I too have recently begun to enjoy minecraft single player! My friend who I had lent my computer to had reinstalled it and I watched him play it a bit and was equally impressed with all the new features of survival mode. In addition, I upgraded my ram from 512mb to 1g and the game seems to be smoother and less choppy now. I'd be all for playing online but I'm pretty sure that the problem there is my connection still.

That sounds great. And once Pengor upgrades his internet in a month or so, that'll make four of us counting Dumbo.
We're gonna get some shit done, boys.

Now. Will there be any mods or will this be a strictly vanilla venture? Because if there will be a mod I would highly suggest tekkit. It's the technic pack made for SMP.

Certainly looks active enough, judging by the forums.
I'll see about getting whitelisted after I get back tomorrow night.

It's really good. It's got an installer now that updates automatically so you don't have to download the newest version automatically and put them in the right folders. Also, it keeps Minecraft at the same version that is supported by technic.
