Heroes of Tomorrow! (Revised) Sign-In, Instructions, and Bac

Instructions:

This is going to be a classic RP meant to tell a story, rather than be a competition between players. Each character is in complete control of themselves and of their enemies. The characters will have enormous control over the entire story. There is no clear storyline, there are no clear ways to win or lose. Almost everything can be changed by the players. There will be way less rules and regulations than an RP such as Trigger's S.O.S. However, the few rules this RP has, must be followed or else you will be removed from the RP. If you have any questions, comments, or ideas for this RP, feel free to post in this topic.


The Rules:
1. You must be interesting in some way. Your character must has some quality that makes them a benefit to this story. Whether they are the comic relief, the love story, the tragic hero, or the arch villain turned ally. You have to be important.

2. You have to work towards making the story better. You can't start your first post as the guy who's power is to blow up everyone else. That is just stupid. Don't try to "win the game". This isn't a competition, it's a story.

3. You cannot be insanely overpowered. No god characters who kill everyone just by flexing. However, if you want to make a Dr. Manhattan type of character, talk to me first.

4. The stronger your character is, the bigger weakness they have. Whether it's the invisible man with tourettes or the paraplegic hulk.

5. You cannot control another character without their permission. Always a golden rule to follow.

6. Your character must not lone wolf it. This is a group story. If you want to write about the sole adventures of your character, put it in your back-story on your sign in sheet.

7. Don't be too ridiculous. If your character starts "RapiNg wAffle$ in ur faCe lololol XD" I will ban you from the thread. Seriously, keep that shit for the chatbox.

8. Don't try to ruin other's stories. No matter if you are fighting in the RP, both of you are working together on another level to tell your story.

9. Give fellow characters time to post. Don't take up three pages just having a conversation between 2 characters. If you need to have a long conversation, edit it into one post.

10. However, if you go idle and don't post for too long, we will leave you behind. Try to stay current with the RP.

11. Pay attention. If someone says a character was killed, don't make a new post about how that character is still alive. Read other's posts carefully since they create the back story you play in.

12. Try to type legibly and make your writings grammatically correct. It's not hard to capitalize the first letters in a sentence and it makes it a lot easier to read. Remember, this is a story and you are the writer. Be neat.


How this RP will play out:

After enough people have posted in this sign-up, I will start a new thread for the RP. From the very start, we will begin creating the story. The back story itself will mostly be filled in from what we say. You are the writers in this crazy comic book RP. Make sure you meet up with other characters soon so the story can take off. You can be a villain, hero, or some kind of combination. All is fair game as long as you follow the above rules.


Back Story:

In the very near future in a sort of parallel universe...
There is a very large city in the United States called Empire city. It is recognized around the world for it's grandeur and size. However, like all cities, Empire City is a haven for criminals of all kinds. From the common purse snatcher to the mafia boss to the corrupted military official to the freakish lizard man. All kinds of bad things call Empire City their home. However, wherever evil threatens the freedom and well being of citizens, heroes will step up and defend them. These heroes, although a bit ridiculous and unpopular, are the cities best hope. At least, that's what they think...

Here's my character and a good example for everyone else. My back story is longer than most, however.

Name: Jack Taylor

Persona: Lucky Jack

Age: 24

Appearance: Handsome looking guy, usually with a smug look on his face showing a hint of his perfect teeth. He usually wears designer suits, making sure he has at least $1000 worth of clothes and accessories on him at all times. He has two expensive, chrome plated handguns in his back pockets.


Power: Incredibly Lucky

Weakness: He has no idea what the hell he is doing.

Short Bio: A smug, rich, bastard who has too much money for his own good. He was granted the power of incredible luck after he suffered from terrible luck as a child. To keep his luck from going away, he ventures out to become a hero.

Back Story:
Jack was born to a poor family living in the slums of Empire City. His father left him at a young age, forcing his mother work two jobs to support both of them. Jack went to an inner-city public school where he was picked on and beat up almost daily for being scrawny and unpopular. High school was worse. His mother began drinking her problems away which led to her rampant alcoholism. His father stopped paying child support, stopped sending letters, and stopped calling.

One rather unlucky day in his senior year of high school became the most important day of his life. the day started worse than average.
They were out of food again, Jack had to skip breakfast. Jack tried to wake his mom up, but she was still passed out on the couch from last nights drinking. Arriving at school, Jack found he had failed not only one, but three major tests. The day was long and exhausting, but upon finally arriving back at home, Jack checked his mailbox to find he had been rejected from his top college choices. Already in tears, Jack trudged back into his house to find his mother screaming at him in a drunken rage for not cleaning the house.

Jack ran to his room and collapsed on his bed. Later that night, he woke up. Looking outside his window he could see the moon brighter than he'd ever seen it before. At that moment he made a wish. He wished that if things improved in his life, he would do anything. The next day was an unusually beautiful day.

When he woke up his mom was already up cooking breakfast. She apologized and promised him that she would never drink again. At school, Jack's teachers all told him he could redo his tests. When he did, they were astounded to see he got perfect marks. Even Jack was surprised. Walking through the halls something happened to Jack that never happened before, girls were flirting with him. Extremely confused, Jack went into the bathroom checking himself in the mirror. To his amazement all of his acne was gone. Also he seemed to be a little bulkier. Thinking he was dreaming, Jack spent the rest of the day in a daze. Walking home he found a $20 bill lying on the ground. And again. And again.

When he got home he found the most shocking thing of all. His father had returned. After hearing his parents talking for hours it was apparent they were getting back together now that both of them had changed their ways. This was too much for Jack, only one more thing would truly make him believe his gut feeling. He checked his mailbox to see that all of his choice colleges had sent another letter as an apology for mixing up his mail. He got accepted into all of them.

At that moment he realized his gut instinct was correct. He had somehow been blessed with an unbelievable amount of luck. Things were finally going to improve for Jack Taylor.

The following years are now summarized. Jack went to a great college. He won the lottery, three times.
Jack was able to get a ton of girls. After winning the lottery, he could get all of them. Friends came too easily, Jack had no time for them. School was easy, tests never seemed to be difficult and teachers loved him. When he graduated college, Jack had been on tv 3 times and had been in an award winning movie. For a year he became a professional poker player. After winning enough money to retire at the age of 23, Jack moved into his villa in an exclusive neighborhood. He turned his villa into a playboy's paradise and lived in extreme comfort for a year. Suddenly though, his luck turned. When he woke up, he found out that both his parents had died in a car crash. Also, the IRS was after him for a failed tax return. To make matters worse, his cat ran away. Jack never had an unlucky day in the last 6 years. His gut was telling him something again. He remembered how he promised he would do anything for this change. It was time to pay up. Jack got into his Aston Martin (picture link) and sped into the inner city. He wasn't sure what he was going to find. He was just counting on getting lucky.

Persona: The Saint

Age: 23

Appearance (pic optional): 6'0, usually wearing a black and purple pinstriped suit. Sports Blackout shades and a black fedora with a purple band.

Power: A vast array of weapons, vehicles, his gang, and a personal fortune.

Weakness: The Ladies, bullets, dope, vast numbers.

Short Bio: The Saint is the leader of the Empire Saints, a vigilante gang, who's mission is to keep the peace in Empire City. Oh, and to pop a cap in those bitches that seek to undermine them. The Saint is hotheaded, arrogant, but usually tries to help people in his own way.

Backstory:

The Saint started his gang five years ago, after his family was murdered by a gang of thugs. Unfortunantly, after taking great steps to guard his nieborhood, Traitors in his inner circle planted a bomb in his home, the explosion sending him into a Five year coma. The Saint woke up 3 months ago, his personality altered slightly, to find his gang in shambles. He quickly took lead again. Most nights, The Saint can be found patrolling the city.

Name: Bartholomew Vincent Conner, aka Vinny

Persona: The Mortician

Age: 95

Appearance: He wears a black suit nearly all the time.

Powers: A blessing and a curse, he can not die. Nothing can break the skin, but getting hit with something hurts like hell.

Weakness: He's old, decrepit. Things hurt getting up in the morning. Things hurt going to bed.

Bio: Every scum of the world passed through his stark white doors to his metal table. This used to be a Mafia controlled business. Vinny wasn't one to be bullied. The Don himself came through those white doors, demanding protection money. Vinny rolled up his sleeves and broke the Don's arm and three of his fingers.

Vinny is a bitter old man who walks half a block to his work. He rarely talks, he rarely eats. He isn't concerned with the troubles of others. He could care less if World War Three wages outside, as long as it didn't bother him in his work. He'd even welcome the war. It'd give him more business.

He was not always this way. He was once a normal bitter old man who walked half a block to his work. A homeless woman collapsed near him one day on the way to work. He carried her as best he could into the morgue, and applied First Aid as best as he could, but she was too far gone. She claimed she was a gypsy, and she would bless him for his efforts. He shrugged her words off as the crazy words of a dying person. The official TOD was 9:12 a.m. He canceled the rest of the day.

A week later, he was hit by a car. It was the most excruciatingly painful experience Vinny ever experienced. The hospital said it was a miracle that he survived at all, and if he was going to make a recovery, that would be another miracle. Miracles of life happened all around Vinny. He never aged, he didn't need to take his insulin shots anymore. Things were looking up.

Things quickly went down. His wife died that year. His son died in some far war. His daughter was attacked in the city, and was found dead in an alley. He has stayed drawn into himself for the last 30 years.

Name: Tristan Feldich

Persona: Deathblade (Changes to "Stumps" early in the story)

Power: Deathblade is a master swordsman, with no peers. He is able to deflect bullets with his two sabres. The blades themselves are made of an unknown metal that crashed into Earth in the form of a meteorite. The metal is thrice as durable as titanium.

Weakness: He recently lost both hands in a motorcycle accident.

Name: Adam Chambers

Persona: Bleeder

Age: 27

Power: His blood is incredibly acidic. He also recovers from minor injuries faster than a normal person. (Bruises, small cuts, ect.)

Weakness: Can't fight very well, though he thinks he can.

Short Bio: Adam Chambers is the kind of a-hole who goes to a bar to pick fights with random strangers rather than to pick up women. He is cocky, and extremely overconfident in his abilities, especially when it comes to being able to fight. The truth is that no one fights well after landing a few faceshots on the guy. They tend to let their guards down when they are busy screaming in pain as their hand gets eaten through by a corrosive substance.
Around than they get hit in the knee with a lead pipe.

Backstory: Adam has always used his special gift to his advantage in life. He picked a lot of fights in high school and won them all with ease. This has caused him to think very highly of himself, causing him to take a lot of risks in his lifetime.
He has become somewhat of an accidental vigilante. It turns out a lot of the people he's kicked the crap out of were wanted criminals. This has only made him think even higher of himself.

Name: Mikhael Diotrephes

Persona: Phaseout (Sometimes simply as "Phase")

Age: 32

Appearance:
Tall, thin, and attractive. Mikhael is white, has short, black hair, and tends to wear custom-tailored clothing.

Power:
Can instantly dematerialize and re-materialize at a place of his choosing. Mikhael may stay in his dematerialized state for a short amount of time before re-materializing. May also dematerialize things that are in his line of sight, but they cannot stay dematerialized, and he cannot dematerialize other people.

Weakness: Mikhael is obsessed with perfection. He must always be in the right place at the right time doing the right thing in the right way. If things don't turn out perfect, he tends to lose concentration and slip into various negative moods, such as depression or rage. He does not think straight in these situations, and tends to forget everything he does when he's in such a state.

Short Bio:
A very successful businessman... Most of the time. His perfectionist line of thinking is very impressive to employers, but he can't tend to keep a job for long, because, well, let's face it; Not everything turns out "Perfect."

He's punctual, hard-working, and humble... When he's himself.

Backstory:

Short Bio: A insane man that will stop at nothing to find out about his life

Back story: One day he just woke up in a lab. He was bound in chains to a bed . A scientist eagerly ran up to him. "Hes awake!" he cried as other scientist ran to his side. Kadin would soon learn that he had actually been concoius ( dont know how to spell that and Firefox has no suggestions ) his whole life but he was hooked up to a machine that instantly erased all of his memories. How did this happen? he was being prepared to be hooked up to it one day to erase all of his memories that he had attained during the past days. just after it had been hooked up there was a critical failure. Kadin's entire life flashed before his eyes. he woke up and electrical cords and bodies were laying everywhere. Kadin had no idea of what happened. A fire had erupted and was quickly spreading and was coming his way. He was forced to leave the only things that could make sense of his flashbacks behind in the fire. Kadin climbed through a vent and aimlessly wandered through tunnels for days until he finally reached the outside world. Till this day kadin still has no idea what happened or how he came about his silenced colt M911 or his Ulaks. All he knows is that he is Extremely angry at everyone and wont stop at anything to make sense of his memories.

Persona: Living Dead Girl

Appearance (pic optional): Living Dead Girl

Power: She can bite through almost any material.

Weakness: She needs to feed on blood or flesh to live.

Short Bio: She isn't missing chunks of flesh, and she has no ill effects on her speech. She enjoys an occasional glass of chilled blood, of which the mortuary has no use and Vinny has an abundant supply of.

Backstory: She has lived for many years, staying alive through the years by killing and eating the homeless or those that tried to mug her. She has no need for material money, nor for material objects. She thinks she is doing the city a favor, thinning the weaker levels of society so the higher groups have less problems.

Persona:The SEAL, or The Hunter

Age:25

Appearance

Power:He sees dead people, its useful when tracking someone, has proficiency with fire arms, level 5 commando Krav Maga instructor (that be hand to hand fighting) his diving skills and other training, (air school, corpsman training) and friends who could "misplace" some gear he needs or get him on a cargo plane if needed.

Weakness: Hes a human, he sees dead people, his wife yells at him a lot for not protecting them and with at the very least one tenth of the people who die in the city turn into a ghost it gets pretty crowded.

Short Bio:skills come with being a former Navy SEAL, who now hunts down a man who is "untouchable" He is smart and calculating, but if he had the time, would help a lost kid find his way home.

Back story:Nathan had a great career in the Navy and on one mission landed wrong and went into a coma (Started seeing ghosts here), and when he came out and was discharged for medical purposes he got a call, his wife and child where dead, killed because she had witnessed a gang murder and planned to testify.

Using all the skills and favors he could muster (and dead people he talks to), he slowly manged to track down the boss man who had killed them and snapped his neck, but not before the man laughed and told him that he was only the man who killed them that the person who put out the hit was so far out of his league and at the top of society that he would never be able to touch him, Nathan still hunts him today, killing all the people who get in his way, and do to a serving nature that made him going the Navy and become a SEAL, stop injustice where he could

Short Bio: Doesn't need much of a reason to kill.

Backstory: Found an eternity in Hell to be rather dull and decided to spice up his life by visiting Earth.

Name: Phillip Slade

Persona: Blaze

Age: 18

Appearance (pic optional): He is a very handsome boy, he almost never smiles and has a straight face or an evil smirk on his face. In his demonic form he is terrifying to anyone who lays eyes on him.


Power: Controls fire, can fly, summons a deadly sword. Can change into his demonic form at will. He has the same abilities but has powerful armor protecting him.

Weakness: Holy magic/icons, Churches, religious accessories. Becomes vulnerable after he is in his demonic form too long.

Short Bio: A boy who died at the age of 18. He became a soldier of hell but was given another chance to go back to earth. Has a kind heart, but has great evil inside of him. Gains his powers from once being one of Hell's soldiers.

Backstory: Phillip was a very happy child. He was christian boy and loved everything until the death of his mother. His father had died before he was born so he was sent to a foster family. His new father was a horrible man. Phillip was beaten constantly by his step father. His step mother hated him with a passion and did nothing about it. The hate toward his step parents grew, and with it hate for himself and hate toward the world.

His step father was constantly drinking. One night his father tied him to the back of his truck. After being drug many miles, his father stopped at a lake surrounded by cliffs. Being surprised that his hated child was still alive, he put a rock on the gas pedal and the truck drug Phillip to his death.

Phillip awoke in Hell. He was face to face with the devil. He made a deal that he would serve in Hell's army in return for a chance to destroy his step parents and the world. After years of training he had been given his chance to return to Earth. When he arrived, he went straight to his old home to find the ones who destroyed him. He arrived and tortured them to death and made sure their torture continued in Hell for eternity. But Phillip was no longer hateful towards the world after killing the source of his hate. He refused to assist in the Apocalypse. The devil allowed his decision but at the price of never returning to hell and being banished in human form on earth.

However his powers were regained after defeating the devils army marching to Earth. Lucifer granted him his powers and the ability to change into his demon form at will. He had proven himself and now was free to to what he willed.
