| I didn't see that chart until now...I would be water/ground which is a pretty good type pairing so long as you aren't facing grass. I imagine if I were a poke'mon I would be a cool catfish that burrows under the ocean floor and later becomes a whale shark looking motherfucker.
Anyway, the Poke'mon itch has struck me pretty hard recently and I'm looking for a game suggestion. I'd like to play a DS one but I'm having a hard time deciding which. I could play:
- Platinum: ran through the game once probably two years ago, had a good time and wouldn't mind revisiting.
- SoulSilver/HeartGold: started a nuzloke run a while back and recorded my run in a topic somewhere. Have only been to half the Johto gyms and have yet to see Kanto. Crystal version was my favorite back in the day so I wouldn't mind starting this one up again; I feel like they did a great job with the remakes and haven't given them the attention they deserve. Unfortunately, I deleted my old rom and save data...
- Black/White: Have yet to try or see gameplay of. I think it looks interesting but the idea of only being able to catch B/W Poke'mon makes me wary since the majority of them are not cosmetically pleasing to me.
- Black/White 2: Should probably play the first games before I play the sequels, right? Unless these are an improvement in every way or something.
so, suggestions? Now that I've written it out I guess I'm really just wondering if B/W are worth playing since I'd probably just go ahead and play the Gen 2 remakes otherwise. Just wondering what everyone's favorite current gen pokemon game is though.

| Black and white is pretty good. the dream world gives you access to pokemon you wouldnt normally get. Even those with alternate abilities. The only thing is, starting is a pain. Just bout all the pokemon you come across know bide, and if you veg out while playing you're gonna get hurt from time to time. | |

| I tried to give White a try but I'm having a pretty rough time emulating it. I have it running without crashes and everything but the framerate is pretty bad and switching emulators isn't doing much to improve it. I wonder if dat 6th gen graphical capability is just too much for my pc to handle. Looks like it'll be Soulsilver, then. | |

| Yeah, while I'd like to change this in the future, I don't currently own a DS. Poke'mon games can feel kind of clunky on emulators but there are nice advantages like being able to resize the screen and built-in Action Replay. I would like to actually buy the game at some point because the wireless trading and battling options seem so cool. | |

| Its not as cool as you think.
The battling up front is pretty much the same as any other battle. But trading is where it bites..
Trading through the global trade center sucks because you can only actively -search- for pokemon that appear in your pokedex. Yep. Unless you've seen a charmander in battle at some point, you can't look for it on the trade center. You can't even select it as an option when offering a pokemon,
it's bullshit.. Sure. you can encounter a lot of pokemon in the Dream World, which is nice, but you don't record them with your pokedex. But at least you can catch what you encounter. Also, you don't record the pokemon you face in online battles. it's only in-game or local I.R battles that record Pokedex data.
The dream world is pretty neat. You capture pokemon by beating them in various mini games. and its the only way to access pokemon with dream abilities. But even that is fucked up, because you can only access the dream land for an hour a day..

Yeah, I'm playing Heartgold right now. I just beat the Violet City gym and my team currently consists of Totodile, Geodude, Butterfree, and Mareep.

| Damn, I had no idea it had been so long either. Although it does make sense considering two new pokemon games have already come out and a third is on its' way... | |
